Using Your Raleigh Landscaping to Create a Winter Wreath

November 30, 2012

Raleigh Landscaping, Raleigh Landscape, NC LandscapeHow to Use Your Raleigh Landscaping to Create Winter Wreaths

Have you ever wanted to create your own wreath? Have you dreamed about using your own Raleigh landscaping in your wreaths? Maybe you haven’t, but there is sure to have been a time when you have seen a house with a gorgeous wreath and thought “that would be nice on my front door”. It happens to many of us! There are many ways you can create winter wreaths using your own Raleigh landscaping. Let us share several ideas on how to include your landscape on your front door or over your mantel.

Many people enjoy the look of a real Christmas tree in their house. When you cut the branches off the bottom of the tree to set it into the tree stand, save them. You can use them to create a wreath of Fraser fir (or another type of Christmas tree you may purchase). Though there may not be enough to cover a wreath, you can combine it with some cuttings from your Holly trees or cuttings from your Magnolias to create a look you will love. You can also take some red berries from your Nandinas and add them to your wreath. You can even add fruit, such as apples or oranges to bring some color to your wreath. Get creative! There are many plants in your Raleigh landscaping you can use to form your own wreath.

If you need help with finding a form or are looking for an inexpensive way to create the right size form, take a trip to your local hardware store. You can purchase foam tubing from the plumbing department to create the perfect wreath form.  Simply attach the two sides together with duct tape or craft glue. Another idea is to use an inexpensive pool noodle cut to the size you need. You can also take a foam wreath form from your local craft store and slice it in half to create two wreaths.

There are many inexpensive possibilities when it comes to creating wreaths. With a little imagination and creativity, along with some clippings from your landscaping and/or Christmas tree, you are well on your way to creating something beautiful!
